Take Back the Night BBQ, Rally, and March Against Sexual Violence
Wednesday, Sept. 20 | 6-9 p.m. | Campus Mall
Join MSUM, Concordia College, and Minnesota State Community and Technical College for our annual BBQ and rally on the MSUM Campus Mall on Wednesday, Sept. 20. This year, we celebrate the 45th anniversary of Title IX, which guarantees every student the right to an education free from discrimination based on sex. 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men will experience intimate partner abuse, sexual violence, or stalking in their lifetime. Do you #KnowyourIX?
Beginning at 6 p.m., the rally features food, resources, and dynamic speakers from our campus and community to unite against gender-based violence and support survivors. The march will end around 7:45 p.m. in Glasrud Auditorium (WE 0106) where the MSUM Choir will perform “I Can’t Keep Quiet,” and survivors will speak out and tell their stories, featuring open mic time.
This event is co-sponsored by the Women’s Center, Campus Feminist Organization, Title IX Office, Hendrix Clinic and Counseling Center, Women’s & Gender Studies Program, and the Department of History, Languages, Critical Race, and Women’s Studies.
