Stories from Refugees

Wednesday, March 29 | 7-8 p.m. | LCM Blue House

Ever wonder what it’s like to be a refugee? To be forced to leave one’s homeland and start over in a new country? Tonight at the Lutheran Campus Ministry Blue House four high-school students will be sharing their stories during LCM’s time of worship. All MSUM students are welcome. The event is from 7-8 p.m. at the LCM Blue House, which is one block west of Hagen Hall (619 10th Street South). No cost. Bring a friend and come listen to stories of those who have lived the refugee experience first hand.

Woodlands and High Plains Powwow

The 28th annual Woodlands and High Plains Powwow will be held April 1, 2017, in Nemzek Fieldhouse on the Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) campus. This year’s theme is “Mni Wiconi (Water is Life): Standing Together.” The WHPP is sponsored by MSUM, Concordia College, Minnesota State Community and Technical College Moorhead (M State), and North Dakota State University (NDSU).

A traditional powwow is a time to celebrate and renew friendships. In addition, this powwow celebrates the educational experiences of American Indian students in higher education and the sharing of tribal cultures in the FM area.  Read the rest of this entry →

SSA looking for band for Earth Day Festival

Sustainable Students Association is currently looking for bands to play at the Earth Day Festival on the campus mall of MSUM on Thursday, April 20. We would prefer if at least one member of the band was an MSUM student. Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC) is hosting an alumni voice presentation on Tuesday, March 28 from 7-8 p.m. in Lommen 203. Kaitlyn Ludwig is a graduate of MSUM and is now in her second year in the Occupational Therapy Doctorate program at the University of South Dakota. She will be talking about the profession of occupational therapy (OT) including the scope of OT practice and what an occupational therapist does in the school environment. Moonball registration deadline

MSUM Gamma Phi Beta is holding its first annual Moonball tournament on March 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at MSUM’s Nemzek Hall. Moonball is a co-ed volleyball tournament, and all proceeds will benefit our philanthropic partner, Girls on the Run, to support our philanthropic focus of Building Strong Girls! Teams consist of 6-8 players and you can have as many teams. The entry fee per team is $35 (that’s just $5 a person for a 7 person team). Team fees are due immediately after submitting team registration. Submit both the sign-up form and money by March 26 at 4 p.m. by using our online form linked below.
