Friday, May 12, be a part of the Annual Alumni Flag Corps. Please join us as we smile and wave flags, welcoming Dragons into the alumni family for the ceremony. Please show up 15 minutes prior to the ceremony so we can be prepared for the graduates as they walk by. This is a great way for you to see the new grads and for them to see you celebrating their success and graduation. Commencement brings to light the importance of why we are here. Minnesota State University Moorhead School of Communication and Journalism will dedicate its Marcil Center for Innovative Journalism Wednesday, May 3 at 1 p.m. in MacLean Hall 262.
Speakers will include MSUM President Anne Blackhurst; Interim Dean of Arts, Media & Communication Denise Gorsline; Forum Communications Company Chairman William “Bill” Marcil, Sr.; and Marcil Center student apprentices Derek Fletcher and Lexi Byler. Student scholarship winners will also be awarded.
The Marcil Center for Innovative Journalism is collaboration between Forum Communications and MSUM that enhances the university’s long-standing reputation for producing highly qualified reporters, photographers and other media professionals. It was established in 2013 with a $1 million gift from Forum Communications to support scholarships, student internships, student/faculty research, residencies by communications leaders and more. The MSUM Criminal Justice Association will be hosting a screening of the documentary “Untouchable” on Thursday, April 27, from 6-8:30 p.m. The screening will be held in the Comstock Memorial Union Ballroom and will be followed by a panel discussion with members of the Minnesota Sex Offender Reentry Project. This event is an opportunity for students, faculty, and all members of the Fargo-Moorhead community to be involved in a progressive discussion about such a sensitive issue. Students from the MSUM Experimental Printmaking class will be hosting a public printmaking intervention in the Great White Hall (event moved from the campus mall) on Thursday, April 27 from 12-4 p.m. All are welcome to screenprint feminist and anti-oppressive messages onto clean underwear during the event.
There will be a limited supply of underwear to buy and print on. BYOU if you can! (Bring Your Own Underwear!)

The School of Art at Minnesota State University Moorhead invites the public to the reception for the exhibitions Night Walk, We the Creatures and Sen5es, on Thursday, April 27 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Gallery (CA 155).
Night Walk by Spencer Johannes will showcase ceramic pieces that were created as a part of his professional portfolio development certificate. We the Creatures features the artwork of Drawing II students created in classes taught by Corinne Teed and Jim Park. This exhibit featured larger-than-life animal fragments combined with human figures drawn in chalk on a black wall. Sen5ses is a community juried exhibition, curated and organized by students in ART 498: Exhibitions, taught by Kelli Sinner. The artwork in this exhibition is designed to engage the viewer’s five senses.
All three exhibitions will be on view from Thursday, April 27 through Friday, May 12.
