Hoffbeck writes history of Hillcrest Lutheran Academy

Steve Hoffbeck, History Department, has written a history of Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, a private, co-educational parochial high school in Fergus Falls, MN, entitled “Hillcrest’s Hundred Years Of Stories, 1916-2016.”

The centennial book chronicles how Hillcrest Academy originated within the “private academy movement” in the Upper Midwest in the early twentieth century, and how Hillcrest Lutheran Academy has continued as a boarding school for 100 years, housing international students from South Korea, Norway, Ecuador, China, and Vietnam; and U.S. students from the East Coast and West Coast. Various chapters contain biographical stories of administrators, faculty, and alumni. Professor Hoffbeck used interviews and primary source documents to write this comprehensive 447-page “Centennial Beacon” book, profusely-illustrated with over 190 photographs, published in May, 2017.
