Gary Haugo Named Vice President for University Advancement
Minnesota State University Moorhead President Anne Blackhurst has named Gary Haugo as Vice President for University Advancement. In this position, Haugo will provide executive leadership for a newly restructured division responsible for external relations activities including fundraising, alumni relations, marketing and communications.
“I am thrilled to welcome Gary to the MSUM community and the Dragon family,” said Blackhurst. “I know that, under his leadership, the division of University Advancement will attract and develop the resources necessary for MSUM to fulfill its purpose of transforming the world by transforming lives.”
The vice presidency became vacant March 31 after the retirement of former vice president Laura Huth.

I look forward to joining an experienced team of Advancement professionals and mobilizing the alumni, parents and friends to join us in “transforming the world by transforming lives.”
Haugo has been Director of Development at Concordia College in Moorhead since 2011. Prior to that, he served as Concordia’s Major Gifts Officer (2007-2011). He was a Sales and Marketing Representative for Novo Nordisk in Rochester, Minn., (2006-2007), and with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Rochester (2004-2006). He taught social studies and coached at high schools in Pequot Lakes, Crookston, and Hinckley Finlayson (1994-2002). He holds a Master of Educational Leadership, Educational Administration from North Dakota State University and a B.A. in Social Studies and Physical Education from Concordia College, Moorhead.
Haugo and his family have been members of the FM community since 2007. His wife Amie is a physician with Sanford Health. He will begin his duties May 16.
