Donate to the 17th Annual School Supply Drive

MSU Moorhead is proud to join many Fargo-Moorhead organizations in support of the 17th Annual School Supply Drive, sponsored by the United Way of Cass-Clay! 
 
The School Supply Drive is an annual project that creates lasting change in the community by providing new backpacks and a basic set of school supplies to children in Cass and Clay counties.  Last year, 5,175 local students grades K-12 were equipped with a backpack and set of school supplies! Over 450 volunteers from area businesses, organizations and individuals donated a tremendous amount of supplies and time to help students in the community be confident and prepared for school.

STARS (Systemwide Training and Registration Site) Transitions to ELM (Enterprise Learning Management)

The current system used by MnSCU for employees enrollment and tracking of training, STARS (Systemwide Training and Registration Site), will be going away as of June 30, 2015.  STARS will no longer be used after this date for enrollment, however, you can access the system to see your training history up until Sept 1, 2015.  MnSCU will be pulling all records out of STARS and they will be placed in the replacement system as historical data.  You do not need to worry about retrieving your records. Brown named interim Chief Human Resources Officer

Donna Brown will assume the duties of interim chief human resources officer on Wednesday, Oct. 8.  She will also continue her responsibilities as chief diversity officer and Affirmative Action officer.  Andrea Kubat, who has been serving as MSUM’s interim CHRO, is returning to her MnSCU duties in St. Paul and her last day here will be Oct. 7.

“I want to thank Donna for assuming these additional responsibilities as the search for a new CHRO is conducted and Andrea for coming back to MSUM these past few months to provide leadership and continuity in this critical office,” said Pres. Anne Blackhurst.

Other key contacts in the Human Resources office are Johnna Moberg for unclassified searches, Nancy Kruse for classified searches and Sarah Graff for other questions.

Candidate interviews for permanent CHRO are scheduled Oct. 9 and 10.

Flu shot clinic: Thursday, October 9

It’s time to take advantage of our workplace flu vaccination clinics. The flu is a contagious respiratory illness that spreads person-to-person. The best way to prevent the flu is to get a flu vaccine each year. Getting the flu puts your life on hold—causing you to miss work and personal obligations.

Staff Development Day: Monday, October 13

On October 13th, we are offering our Fall Breather Staff Development Day in the Center for Business. President Blackhurst will be delivering the noon Keynote Address titled, “Our Playbook for the Future of MSUM”.

Registration and Continental Breakfast begins in the CB Atrium at 8:00 AM. Dan Heckaman will kick off the event at 8:30 AM with Announcements.

Topics covered include Web Based Accounting, Employee Code of Conduct, What is the Perfect Diet?, Microsoft Office 365/OneDrive for Business & Microsoft Software Center, Requesting Space & Event Planning-Virtual EMS, Basic Ektron: Web Content Editing, Mental Health & Suicide Awareness, MAC Technology, Office 2010 vs 2013, ListServ, Search Process – HR, Email Etiquette, Active Shooter Training, Social Media, and Personal Leadership in Four Dimensions. The hands-on classes will be limited in size so you will want to register early.

MSRS representative meetings: October 15 & 16

Plan Now for Retirement

On October 15 and 16, in CMU Room 212, representatives from Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS) will be available to meet with employees individually to enroll, review or ask questions about your MSRS pension, MN Deferred Compensation Plan or Health Care Savings Plan.

Call the HR Office Front desk at x2157 to schedule an individual appointment with Retirement Counselor, Lois Buermann.

2015 Open Enrollment begins October 31, 2014 and goes through November 13, 2014

An informational poster detailing with the details of 2015 Open Enrollment is attached.  Additional information regarding Open Enrollment will be mailed to your home address directly from SEGIP and will be posted on SEGIP’s website (www.mn.gov/mmb/segip) as it becomes available.
