Laps for the Long Run event next Wednesday

President Blackhurst would like to invite MSUM students, faculty and staff to show their support as she runs for over $1,000,000.

In an effort to raise money for student scholarships and other student-centered priorities, President Anne Blackhurst will be running 50 laps around the Ron Masanz Track at Nemzek Field on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 5:30 p.m. for the “Laps for the Long Run” event. She has pledged $50,000 toward merit-based scholarships. Last week, it was announced that Scheels has pledged $1,000,000.

Students, join in the music, prizes, food and Dragon Pride as you show your support by attending the event and cheering on President Blackhurst and her guest runners. Register and be entered to win prizes worth at least $100 after each of the 50 laps. Prizes will include lunch with President Blackhurst, gift cards, flat-screen TVs, a bike, an iPad mini and more. The first 500 students to register and scan their student ID at the event will receive a $5 concessions voucher, and the first 358 students will receive shoelaces that sport #DragonPride (Anne ran the Fargo Marathon in 3:58).  The concession stand will be open, and music from President Anne’s personal playlist will play throughout the event. You must register online and be present to be eligible for prizes. Register today at mnstate.edu/laps.

Also, following Anne’s lead and belief in our students, Student Body President Cody Meyer has started a student fundraising team to go along with the other teams raising funds for students. To show your support, donate an amount matching your graduation year ($20.15, $20.16. $20.17, $20.18) at https://donate.mnstate.edu/studentteam.

Be sure to have your phones ready and tweet your experience by using #MSUMLaps throughout the event.
