‘Photos by Regene Radniecki’ exhibit opens today

The MSUM College of Communications and Journalism welcomes the community to help honor MSUM professor Regene “Reggie” Radniecki at the opening of her photographic exhibit, “Photos by Regene Radniecki.” A reception will be held today from 4-6:30 p.m., Flora Frick Hall, Room 254. The exhibit closes May 20.

Radniecki is retiring after a long and colorful career in photojournalism. Her work has been published in many renowned publications, including: The New York Times, National Geographic’s World Magazine, LIFE, Ebony, Business Week, Time Magazine, Forbes, Christian Science Monitor, The Los Angeles Times, MPLS/St. Paul Magazine, Press Time and many others.

From Queen Elizabeth II and Pope John Paul II, to athletes, war veterans, singers, and everyday Americans, Radniecki has captured it all. Her sense of timing is impeccable – the subjects, scenes, and scenarios depicted in her photographs are unlike any other in composition and style.

The professor of mass communications has also played an instrumental role in the development of Horizonlines.org, a general-interest online magazine produced by students in the multimedia journalism program.

“Reggie joined us in 2000, and not only did she help usher in the new millennium, but helped us introduce a new era of digital publishing,” said C.T. Hanson, chair of the MSUM Mass Communications Department. “Through her work with horizonlines.org, Reggie and her students have helped establish our department and university as one of the premier programs in online publishing.”
