Brazilian Samba Drumming workshop at MSUM
The MSUM Percussion Studio, directed by Dr. Kenyon Williams, will host a Brazilian samba drumming workshop Thursday night in the Center for the Arts room 100 (Band Hall) from 7-10 p.m. The workshop will be led by guest instructors, Tim and Pat O’Keefe, co-directors of Minneapolis’ own “Batucada do Norte.”
The workshop is a prelude to the Day of Percussion that the Music Department will host on Saturday, Nov. 10 in the Center for the Arts. Workshop participants will learn basic samba drumming rhythms and will be invited to participate in the grand finale concert of the Day of Percussion at 5 p.m. in Weld Hall on Nov. 10. Admission to the workshop is free of charge and drums will be provided for participants.
