MSUM hosted Mathematical Association meeting

The MSUM Mathematics Department hosted the Fall 2011 meeting of the North Central Section of the Mathematical Association of America October 28-29. Over 50 college and university faculty and students attended the meeting, which consisted primarily of presentations. The two invited addresses were given by Professor Tom Halverson of Macalester College on permutations and related topics, and by Professor Rick Gillman of Valparaiso University (Indiana) on stability in groupings. Andrew Chen, CSIS, presented a talk on partially ordered sets. The North Central Section consists of Minnesota, North Dakota, about half of South Dakota, and nearby Canada.
