Women’s Studies Colloquium March 4

Claudia Murphy, Women’s Studies/Philosophy, will present a Women’s Studies Colloquium Friday, March 4 at 11 a.m. in Bridges 154 – Women’s Center. The title of her talk is “The Role of Outsider Emotions in Feminist Epistemology.”

“How does discomfort in response to oppression turn subversive? “Outlaw” emotions are atypical responses, incompatible with dominant perceptions and values. How do so-called recalcitrant emotions morph into outlaw emotions? I will examine the role of outlaw emotions in challenging systems of oppression.”
