Dr. Heather Cegla (MSUM alumna Physics/Astronomy Spring 2010) was awarded a UKRI Future Leader Fellowship at the University of Warwick in England. This $1.5 million, four-year grant will allow Dr. Cegla to build a world-class research group developing techniques to enable the unambiguous detection of Earth-like planets around other stars. Dr. Cegla’s appointment is a tenure-track faculty position at Warwick.

Dr. Matthew Craig, Department of Physics and Astronomy, was one of the keynote speakers at the 7th annual Dakota Nights Astronomy Festival at Theodore Roosevelt National Park over Labor Day weekend. Over 500 people attended the festival.
