“For the Bible Told Me So” Movie & Panel Event
Monday , April 12 – CMU 101, 7 pm
Sponsored with Lutheran Campus Ministries & Gay Straight Alliance
For the Bible Told Me So is a compelling documentary of gay and lesbian individuals who are thrust out of their Christian faith. With openly gay pastors and bishops coming into the spotlight, leaders of the fundamentalist Christian faith are using the Bible to condemn individuals for their sexual identity. After the movie, small groups will form to engage in thoughtful discussion.
Cristie Jacobsen , Fargo Police Department Cultural Liaison Officer
Tuesday, April 13 – CMU 227, 3 pm
The Fargo Police Department’s Cultural Liaison Officer provides a familiar face in law enforcement to communicate with new Americans, refuges, immigrants, and the Native American Community. Officer Cristie Jacobsen will provide a lecture on interacting with Fargo-Moorhead’s diverse community.
Interracial Adoption
Tuesday, April 13 – CMU 205, 5:30 pm
Sponsored with Student Training Our Campus Against Racism
Across the globe, countries have made interracial adoption illegal. After the devastating earthquake in Haiti, individuals attempted to put unclaimed children up for adoption. Were these individuals helping orphans or ignoring a culture’s dignity? Panelists from the community will provide intriguing discussions about these issues.
