MSUM made its mark at the First Annual Fargo-Moorhead Frostival

Frostival started with an Opening Kickoff on January 29th and ended with a bike race on January 31st. Throughout the weekend MSUM helped to make this a memorable and great community event. If you visited the s’mores stations during the Opening Kickoff Friday night you likely roasted those marshmallows on a skewer and over a fire pit shared by MSUM.

Saturday was filled with multiple MSUM sponsored activities – starting with the Almost 3K Fun Run/Walk at the Red River Zoo. The Zoo and MSUM worked together with the support of Blue Cross Blue Shield of ND and BOB 95 FM to make it a one of a kind event that included free carousel rides, a selfie station, free breakfast pastries (donated by Sodexo) and much more. There were 80 participants that filled the zoo with energy and excitement early Saturday morning.

Later in the afternoon at the Depot on Main Avenue there was a variety of outdoor activities for the community – including cornhole with boards proudly displaying the MSUM Dragon. MSUM also hosted indoor family activities – making Dippin’ Dots and making slime. Students from the Chemistry/Biochemistry Club were on hand to do each activity with the public and talk with them about the science behind what was going on. These activities proved to be more popular than expected with lines to the door the whole afternoon that culminated in over 300 bowls of ice cream being made and over 150 slime mixtures being created.
Finally, Admissions was on hand to talk with families and reconnect with Alumni and Community Outreach provided summer camp information to kids and parents! It was a great day to be a Dragon and the Frostival planning committee has already asked MSUM to be part the event again next year!
