Accessing Higher Ground virtual conference Nov. 16-20

Accessibility. Universal Design for Learning. ADA & Section 508. Design for All.

You may have heard those terms used in relation to making course materials and digital content accessible for all. Recent litigation has focused the need to address accessibility issues at higher education institutions. How can we address making MSUM’s use of technology accessible for use by students, prospective students, faculty, and staff?

Learn tips on how to make your information and courses accessible for all by participating in the Accessing Higher Ground virtual conference during the week of November 16th.

Dates: November 16 – 20
When: See the ITS blog for a full schedule
Where: Faculty Development Center (Library 124 and/or 125)

The Accessing Higher Ground conference promotes accessibility for all people (including those with disabilities) by incorporating the principles of Universal Design and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to digital media and information, web pages, library resources, curriculum, learning tools, and so on.

The conference is intended for:

* Faculty and others interested in incorporating Universal Design for Learning into curriculum.

* Campus leadership and staff interested in promoting the use of Universal Design in all aspects of campus communication.

* Those interested in ADA & Section 508 compliance.

The 2015 conference is being held in Westminster, CO. It is hosted by AHEAD (Association on Higher Education and Disability) in collaboration with ATHEN, EASI, and the University of Colorado-Boulder.

The Virtual Conference allows you to participate in a selection of workshops and keynote addresses without traveling to Colorado. You are welcome to come and go as you like, attending whichever sessions are of interest to you.

Session recordings from the virtual conference, plus 14 additional sessions, will be available for personal viewing after the conference.

Details of virtual conference sessions will be communicated in future Dragon Digest articles.
