Workday Training Communication

Greetings!

We hope this message finds you well. The Workday Training Team is contacting all Minnesota State employees regarding the upcoming implementation of Workday. The Human Capital Management and Finance Workday implementation will affect every Minnesota State employee.

Minimally, the move to Workday will mean all employees will complete their timesheet using Workday. For employees working in Human Capital Management and Finance, the change will impact more aspects of their daily work. To prepare each Minnesota State employee for the move to Workday in July, everyone will be required to complete Workday training. Please note: if you are a contracted employee or a concurrent enrollment instructor, you will receive separate communication on Workday training requirements.

How Will Employee Workday Training Needs Be Determined?

Training requirements are determined by the Workday security role(s) assigned to each employee. Every Minnesota State employee will have at least one security role, called Employee as Self. Depending on an employee’s responsibilities, they may have additional security roles and therefore additional training to complete.

What Workday Training Will Employees Receive?

All employees have the Employee as Self security role. This role will complete five computer-based courses delivered through the Enterprise Learning Management System (ELM). Topics covered in the Employee as Self training courses include Workday Core Concepts, Workday Navigation and Features, Finding Information in Workday, Managing Personal Information in Workday, and Managing Time and Absence in Workday. It is estimated the Employee as Self Workday training courses will be available in ELM around April 1 and will take three hours to complete.

Additional Training for Managers, Cost Center Managers, and Employees in Human Capital Management and Finance

Employees with additional Workday security roles beyond Employee as Self will complete additional training. Each employee’s individual training plan will be made available at the beginning of April.
