Please join us as we pay tribute to our military-connected heroes and celebrate their unwavering commitment to preserving our freedom at the opening event of Veterans Week at MSU Moorhead.
- Markus Krueger, program director at the Historical & Cultural Society of Clay County and an MSUM alumnus, will share an interpretation of the True Sons of Freedom exhibit on display now in the Center for the Arts gallery.
- Other speakers include Dave Bellefeuille, senior administrative officer with the Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs and MSUM Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs Dr. Arrick Jackson.
The True Sons of Freedom exhibit commemorates World War I by showcasing powerful photographs of African American Soldiers from Virginia who fought overseas for freedoms they were denied at home. These pocket-sized portraits, submitted by these Veterans, challenge the stereotypes and cultural limitations of their time.
