MSUM and FMWF Chamber will host internship event March 22
Employers will learn how to recruit international students to fill vacant positions
MSU Moorhead, in partnership with the Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber of Commerce, will host a networking event for local businesses to help them understand the process of recruiting international students to fill available internships. The event will be on Wednesday, March 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the university’s Comstock Memorial Union room 105.
Employers will hear from businesses that have recruited international students for internships and learn about the value of OPT/CPT work authorization and what it can mean for long-term employment.
“In a time when there is a labor shortage in our region, international students are skilled labor that bring expertise to regional business and industry,” said Robert Nava, MSUM’s AVP for Academic Affairs and Dean of Graduate Studies. “They bring diverse perspectives, which can result in a competitive edge and have connected to our community, resulting in higher retention.”
Workshop speakers include Minnesota State’s immigration attorney Michelle Easton, Erick Roder, Director of People and Nerd Culture at Codelation, Source Manager Katianne Brockpahler and Talen Acquisition Supervisor Megan Sneddon, both from Sanford Health, and representatives from Concordia College and MSUM.
