MANRRS chapter launched at MSUM
The Office of Diversity and Inclusion (ODI) is excited to announce the launch of the newly formed MANRRS (Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Related Sciences) chapter at MSUM (Minnesota State University Moorhead). Treasure Williams, from East View Academy and 2nd year MSUM Smart Start, studying Math Education and Criminal Justice with a minor in sociology will serve as the inaugural president. Treasure reached out to ODI director Jered Pigeon, who will serve as the club advisor, with the excitement of starting a STEM focused organization that existed to meet the needs of historically underrepresented students. Treasure states “as minorities I feel that we have to be stronger than our strongest excuse and by creating this organization, we will assist students with gaining perseverance skills and the knowledge to execute.”
MANRRS is an organization that advocates for academic and professional advancement for minorities in the agriculture, natural resources, and related sciences industries. Their mission is to provide a supportive community that promotes equity and diversity in these fields. They believe that through community, affirmation, and empowerment, members can help change the future of the industry to a more equitable and diverse environment. By providing opportunities for networking, mentorship, and professional development, we aim to equip our members with the tools they need to succeed in their careers.
We invite students who share our passion for equity and diversity in agriculture, natural resources, and related sciences to click here into Dragon Central to join our chapter, https://mnstate.campuslabs.com/engage/organization/mannrs.
