New facility readers being installed across campus
New proximity readers are being installed across campus. They have a nice gray front to them and the light for the reader is more prominent.
This upgrade is being done for security reasons. The new readers have a lot more capabilities and security protocols.
- With more security comes more complexity. The new readers have a much shorter read range. Depending upon your personal choice of how you store your card, you may have to touch the reader in order for it to activate.
- As the reader goes through the protocols of reading cards the new readers may be a little bit slower in response time.
The technology that is incorporated into this environment will make it safer for everyone on campus.
