Welcome to the #DragonFamily: Kevin Keller

Meet one of MSUM’s new general maintenance workers, Kevin Keller. Kevin is excited to be a part of MSUM’s building services and provide a safe and operative environment on campus for students and faculty.

Start Date: April 20, 2020

Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: I was searching for a position that would be a good fit for my work skills and abilities! A friend of mine, who currently works at MSUM, informed me of this position opening.

Q: What is one thing that surprised you about MSUM?
A: Starting at this odd time of COVID-19, it has been interesting to see the amount grit and determination from the staff that is working to complete their jobs. The amount of heart required to accomplish this, considering most are working from home, is truly amazing.

Q: What unique experience or skills from your last job do you bring to MSUM?
A: I am currently a Certified Pool Operator. Prior to joining MSUM, I worked at a hotel as a maintenance person by helping to clean rooms and public areas as well as setting up and tearing down for weddings, banquets and meetings.

Q: What energizes you at work?
A: I do enjoy working a job that is organized with bits of chaos mixed in. This job seems to fit that well, with structured cleaning, mixed with bouts of chaos, including event setups and teardowns.

Q: Where is your favorite place to eat in Fargo-Moorhead? Why?
A: O’Clevy’s has great steaks and the all-you-can-eat ribs on Saturdays make for a good meal!

Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: Two places I would still like to travel to are South America and Europe.  Once I have experienced that, I will have been to six of the seven continents.  I have no desire to go to Antarctica, as we live that here every winter!

Welcome to MSUM, Kevin. We’re glad you joined the #DragonFamily.
