Courtney Magnuson will give a Math Seminar today at 4 p.m. in BR 264.

Title: The Heat Equation

Abstract: The heat equation is a second order partial differential equation used to model temperature distribution throughout an object. As time passes, temperature distribution through the object changes. In this talk, we show how the heat equation is derived, how it can be solved by representing it as functions of position and temperature, and how it can be applied to other situations. This method will utilize Fourier series to find the complete solution.
