McEwen awarded grant for environmental research in Arctic Alaska

Daniel McEwen, Department of Biosciences, was part of an interdisciplinary team that was awarded a 1.37 million dollar grant from the Arctic Landscape Conservation Cooperative under the direction of the United States Geological Survey to study the impacts of climate change on linkages between hydrology, insect emergence, and migratory shorebird reproductive success. McEwen has been working on arctic ecology issues for the past six years. This grant will allow him to continue to work for the next three years on the system. Other team members for this grant come from the USFWS, University of Missouri, North Dakota State University, and the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.
