The Office of Student Activities announces the winners of November’s Dragon Pride Awards!

Student Leader of the Month: Shane Kelly – Involved in: Kappa Sigma, Dragon Paranormal Society, Student Senate, Public Safety

“Shane leads by example. Shane is professional, polite, and serves in the military. He is a model student and employee who represents MSUM and the Public Safety Department in a very professional manner.”

“Shane is involved in a lot of organizations yet he still manages to put everything he has into every task he is given. He is constantly striving to help other students on campus with their problems and will be the first to make other members of the organizations feel welcome and included.”

Honorable mentions: Ying Luo, Mariah Lloyd, Sujesh Shrestha, Kelly Falk, Sarah Shepersky, Joe Johnson, Wes Kramer.

Student Organization Advisor of the Month: Asoak Marasignhe, Chemistry and Biochemistry Club

“He is a very honest and caring person. He really wants students to shine. He guides us and advises us and most importantly, encourages us to come up with our own ideas.”

Student Organization of the Month: Student Senate

“The Student Senate has helped students become aware of the economic uncertainty at hand and has been a powerful force in ensuring the student body is informed about how the changes will impact their college experience. We also recently co-sponsored events for Breast Cancer Awareness and the Native American Indian Month activities.”

“Senate held the movie Burn My Heart at Wounded Knee as part of Native American Heritage Month. This event was widely successful and helped promote awareness and diversity on and off campus. Senate has helped with city wide elections for mayor and even held an open debate between the candidates.”
