Medical physics topic of March 25 seminar

Physics Seminar * Friday, March 25 * 2:30 p.m. * Hagen 325
Guest speaker: MSUM alumnus Charles Conduah

Medical Physics is an applied branch of physics concerned with the application of the concepts and methods of physics to the diagnosis and treatment of human disease. This is a relatively new branch of physics, which emerged as a result of technological advancement and innovation in medicine. There are three distinct branches of medical physics: diagnostics, nuclear, and therapy. This presentation will include a brief history of medical physics as well the physics involved in the various branches with emphasis on radiation oncology physics. Talk will also include how to become a certified medical physicist.
