Art faculty, students have work selected for exhibitions

Department of Art & Design students and faculty have had work selected for local, national and international exhibitions recently. The students of the advanced sculpture class have submitted designs for a public art piece that will be installed outside of the Plains Art Museum for the next year. The proposals were voted on by the public and the piece will be created by the end of the  semester.

Student Kaylyn Gerenz submitted a sculpture to the International Contemporary Textile and Fiber Art Competition Exhibition held by Le Arti Tessili in Maniago (Ponderone), Italy. The piece was accepted and will be exhibited at Museo delle’ Arte Fabbrile e delle Coltellerie. The exhibition will then go on to travel for a year. Kaylyn was awarded third prize in the show and she will receive 1000 Euros.

Student Abby Cline was awarded runner up in the national publication Creative Quarterly.

Faculty member Chris Walla has a piece on exhibition as part of a group show at Apex Gallery in New York City.
