“NEON: Enabling Research and Education in Continental Scale Ecology”

Thursday, October 1, 2009 • 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. • NDSU Memorial Union, Arikara Room

Michael Keller, Ph.D., Chief of Science for the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON) headquartered in Boulder, Colo., will visit North Dakota State University. Dr. Keller’s presentation will describe future plans for NEON – an observatory network that will be the first of its kind to collect ecological data at continental scales over multiple decades. NDSU is the host institution for NEON Domain #9, the Northern Plains, and North Dakota will be the site of Domain #9 observatory towers. NEON data will be made readily available to scientists, educators, students, decision makers and the public in order to understand and address large ecological questions and issues.
