Yahya Frederickson, English, won Finishing Line Press’s Open Chapbook Competition. His manuscript, “The Birds of Al-Merjeh Square: Poems from Syria” was selected by poet Christopher Bursk as the winner. In addition to publication, Frederickson received a $1,000 cash award. finishinglinepress.com
Konrad Czynski, Philosophy, with Maestro Stephen Simon and Bonnie Simon published their 10th CD in the Maestro Classics “Stories in Music” series. This is Saint-Saëns’ “Carnival of the Animals” with humorous (even nonsensical) verses written by Ogden Nash in 1950 for the conductor André Kostelanetz.
