Honors Focus Forum March 3 & 4

Please join the University Honors community in welcoming medievalist Dr. Edward Risden, St. Norbert College, as he presents a lecture on “Hero, Id, and a Feminist Beowulf: Freud Meets Epic Flicks” Thursday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Center for Business 109.   

Medievalist Lynda Coon to speak Oct. 4

Dr. Lynda Coon, University of Arkansas, will present an Honors Lecture titled “Hrabanus Maurus: A Carolingian Foursquare Man of Scripture” on Monday, October 4 at 7:30 p.m. in CB 109. Coon is a graduate of the University of Virginia and is a specialist in gender and sexuality in the medieval world. The event is free and open to the public.

Alpha Lambda Delta inducts first-year students

Alpha Lambda Delta, the national honor society for first-year students, held its MSUM initiation Sunday, April 11 at 1 p.m. in the CMU. Twenty-nine new members were initiated. Freshmen initiates must have earned a 3.5 GPA fall semester and be in the top 20% of the freshman class. The initiation was hosted by last year’s ALD president and vice-president, Whitney Nelson and Nicole Kahler, and ALD Advisor Janet Haak. Dr. Timothy Borchers, Dean of Arts and Humanities, was the guest speaker. Click headline to see who the new inductees are.
