Global Citizenship and Cross-Cultural Teaching: Taiwan

This Spring course will introduce students to the basic elements of cross cultural teaching, global citizenship and teaching non-native English speakers. Join professors Sheila Marquardt and John Benson in Taiwan May 15-June 14 for an experience that will build your skills as a teacher. Please let us know if you have questions. You may also attend an information session to learn more about this study abroad opportunity 10/6 at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. in LO 204, 10/10 at 3:30 p.m. in LO 204 and 10/12 at 5:30 p.m. in LO 104.

2017 Employee Excellence Awards winners are:

  • Excellence in Service to Students: Karla Wenger
  • Culture Champion Award: Layne Anderson
  • Excellence in Service to the Community: The 18 Online Team, comprised of Catherine Artac, Dr. Boyd Bradbury, Dr. Ok-Hee Lee, Dr. Lisa Karch, Karla Wenger and Dr. Julie Zaloudek
  • Excellence in Service to the University, focus on Diversity: Dr. Justin James
  • Excellence in Creative Activity & Collaboration: Derek Lien
  • Excellence in Teaching & Research: Dr. Sheila Marquardt

Dr. Sheila Marquardt Presents at National Association of Multicultural Education

Dr. Sheila Marquardt, School of Teaching and Learning, presented at the National Association of Multicultural Education held in Cleveland, Ohio. The presentation, “Shh! Just shut up and teach: Moving teacher voice from the margins to the educational center,” engaged the question: How do we help new teachers understand their work is not just in the classroom, but it is a commitment to advocate for the field as a whole? The presentation engaged under-graduate students, teacher educators and practicing teachers.
