Dr. Severson and Dr. Suarez-Sousa attend AACTE meeting and conference

Dr. Sue Severson and Dr. Ximena Suarez-Sousa from the School of Teaching and Learning attended the Annual Meeting and Conference of the American Association of College for Teacher Education (AACTE) in Indianapolis, March 1-3. They focused their attendance on meetings and presentations pertaining to teacher education accreditation including sessions that addressed data gathering and analysis, program evaluation, and new CAEP standards.

Tack led professional development session on co-teaching models

Dr. David Tack, School of Teaching and Learning, led an hour-long professional development session with the teachers in the Early Education Center. Together they focused on implementing strategies to enhance the co-teaching models that are utilized within the center, as well as discussed instructional strategies that would best facilitate effective learning in these models.

Art education major founds Art Club for homeless children; featured in Fargo Forum

Springing from work done in Steve Grineski’s Ed. 310 class, art education major Marissa Van Vleet continued her social justice work by volunteering at Churches United for the Homeless on Saturday mornings running an art club for children. Van Vleet’s advisor Brad Bachmeier hopes to turn this into a sustainable program in the future. Read more in The Forum article.
