Merger of Two Non-Profits at the Hjemkomst Center Open House Scheduled

The Clay County Historical Society and the Heritage Hjemkomst Interpretive Center are now officially merged to become the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County with a mission to preserve, interpret and celebrate the history and culture of Clay County and the region. An open house to celebrate this merger of two well established organizations has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a chamber ribbon cutting to take place at 4 p.m. It’s free and open to the public.

Relay for Life June 12-13

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Clay County 2009 will be held on the MSUM campus June 12-13. It is one of 5,000 community gatherings nationally where teams of people camp out and take turns circling a track or path to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and empower all individuals to fight back against this disease.

YWCA Diversity Training

The YWCA Cass Clay presents “It’s Time to Talk: Forums on Race” fourth annual luncheon featuring renowned anti-racism speaker Tim Wise on Tuesday, June 9 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott in Moorhead. Tickets are $35/each (student tickets/$25). The luncheon will feature a keynote address on “White Privilege” by Wise, followed by a panel discussion with community leaders and a general Q & A.
