Next faculty book talk Nov. 11

Mark your calendars for the the next faculty development book talk on “A whole new mind: Why right-brainers will rule the future.” Daniel Pink’s New York Times and Business Week Bestseller is sure to create a lively discussion for students and faculty alike. Join us on 11-11-09 at 12:00 in CMU 227. Chris Malone from the Psychology Department and Alison Turen from the Counseling Center will lead the discussion. Free books as always–email Steve Grineski and agree to attend the event.

Self defense for women

All MSUM women are invited to participate in a small group and structured self-defense program. Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) is a nationally recognized self-defense program that teaches women to recognize, avoid and defend themselves from being physically attacked. RAD is a combination of simple, effective physical techniques specifically designed for females along with mental and emotional awareness and preparation. Click the headline to read more.

Fuego Tropical to perform at animal benefit

Fuego Tropical, MSUM’s steel drum and salsa ensemble, will perform this Saturday night, October 24 at the “4 Luv of Dogs” Benefit.” This silent auction and gala fundraiser will help to raise support for “4 Luv of Dogs” animal shelter and rescue. The band will perform from 7-9:30 pm at the NDSU Alumni Center on University Avenue.

Author Patricia Hampl on campus Oct. 21 & 22

Best-selling author Patricia Hampl will talk on the writer’s craft at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 and read from her work at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22 both in MSU Moorhead’s King Hall Auditorium 110 as a feature of MSUM’s Tom McGrath Visiting Writers Series.
