Upcoming Diversity Week events

The MSUM Student Senate has numerous events planned for the 2010 Diversity Week, including keynote speaker TJ Leyden, who will talk on “Turning from Hate” Wednesday, April 14 at 7 p.m. in the CMU Ballroom. After 15 years as a neo-Nazi white supremacist activist and recruiter, Tom “TJ” Leyden experienced a profound change of heart, turned away from hate and began teaching tolerance. Library celebrates National Library Week April 11-17

Livingston Lord Library will celebrate National Library week with a lecture event featuring Greg Breining, Wednesday, April 14 at 4:30 p.m. in Science Lab 118. Breining will talk about his book, A Hard-Water World: Ice Fishing and Why We Do It. Refreshments will be served with a book signing to follow. Author Rachel Coyne at MSUM Tuesday

Rachel Coyne, author of the novel Whiskey Heart (New Rivers Press, 2009), will read from her work at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 30 as a feature of MSUM’s Tom McGrath Visiting Writers Series. She’ll also give a talk on the writers’ craft at 4 p.m. that day. Both events will be held in Comstock Memorial Union 101. The Year of Magical Thinking April 22

The English Department, McGrath Visiting Writers Series and the Film Studies Department announce a special performance of Joan Didion’s play —adapted from her memoir— The Year of Magical Thinking, presented by Theatre B and featuring Mary Cochran, on Thursday, April 22 from 4:30-6 p.m. in Weld Hall Glasrud Auditorium. Poker Walk for Fitness

Draw a card at each department… your name and card will be recorded. Keep your card and proceed to the other departments. You do not have to walk to all seven departments at one time, walk on your breaks or lunch hour. Human Resources MUST be the last department you walk to –before 4:00 p.m. You will draw your last card, and submit your best hand.
