Reminder: LinkedIn Learning Subscription was Sunset on 7/22/23
LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda.com) was a subscription service that MSUM had historically paid for and made available to all faculty, staff and students. On July 22, 2023 the subscription to this service expired. This means that all access to the LinkedIn Learning course content, as well as user learning history is no longer available.
The sunset was originally communicated to all users of LinkedIn Learning via direct email and to the campus community via Employee and Student news on 5/10/23.
Background/Rationale: LinkedIn Learning was made available to the campus community through a site wide license paid for by MSUM since August, 2012. The Student Technology Fee paid for the cost of LinkedIn Learning. Usage of this subscription was fewer than 30% of all available users, making it difficult to justify this expense. In 2015, the Information Technology department in collaboration with the Office of Online Learning executed the ‘Tools 4 School’ campaign with effort and emphasis towards the LinkedIn Learning Service (Lynda.com). Usage continued to decline since those efforts were conducted.
The recommendation to sunset was reviewed by the Student Technology Fee Committee as well as the University Technology Committee with input from the Office of Online Learning and the Information Technology Department.
