José Bowen, a pioneer in active learning and the use of technology in the classroom, will share his insights from over 40 years of leading innovation and change in his MSUM talk titled “Educating Humans to Thrive in an AI World.” His visit to campus is the culmination of our common book read, “Teaching with AI: A Practical Guide to a New Era of Human Learning.”
“‘Teaching with AI’ challenges us in higher education to reflect on our assumptions around teaching and learning in the context of ever-evolving AI technology,” said Dr. Ok-Hee Lee, Dean of the College of Education and Human Services and AVP of Student Success. “During Dr. Jose Bowen’s visit, I cannot wait to peek into his insights and wisdom for preparing our students to thrive in an AI-driven future.”
One of the key impacts AI will have on work is the ability to automate repetitive and data-intensive tasks, freeing up time for complex and creative work.
Dr. Jason Trainer, Vice President of Enrollment Management & Strategic Initiatives, says, “Dr. José Bowen’s visit highlights the crucial role AI plays in education and the future of work. His insights will inspire us to better prepare graduates for success in an AI-driven world. I’m excited for his visit and the conversations it’ll spark.”
