Announcing our new Director of the Honors Program
I am happy to announce Dr. Richard Lahti as our new Director of the Honors Program. Dr. Lahti is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.
“I am excited to be part of an interdisciplinary program such as Honors. My favorite part of the Student Academic Conference has always been seeing what our best students are doing in other departments across campus. While the learning curve will be steep, I hope to be able to use what I have learned in other experiences on and off campus to make sure that the honors program continues to serve the needs of our students as the landscape of higher education continues to change,” says Dr. Lahti.
His goals are to continue the work started by the committee last year, and make sure the policy is flexible enough that our honors caliber students, whether they are new entering freshmen with substantial PSEO, transfers, or students in heavily prescriptive programs, have avenues to participate in the honors program.
