Diversity and Equity student climate survey is now live

On March 22, the Office of Diversity & Inclusion launched the Diversity and Equity student climate survey with the support of Flypaper Creative Services, Marketing & Communications and in partnership with the Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium. The survey asks all students (undergraduate and graduate) about their perceptions of MSUM’s climate, how the university supports diversity and equity, and their experiences at MSUM with discrimination and harassment.

Why are we doing this?

  • The survey aligns with our Wildly Important Goal of Equity and Enrollment.
  • The results will assist in understanding students’ experiences, help inform and improve our DEI support, policies and practices, and give us direct insight into the barriers that prevent students from persisting.
  • We will share survey results with the campus community in the coming months.
  • We currently have 200 (4.2%) completed surveys, our goal is 372-466 (8-10%) completed.

How are we Marketing?

  • Four emails from HEDS to all students March 22-April 22.
  • D2L landing page
  • Posters, flyers, business cards
  • Instagram, campus signage
  • Student news, official student email
  • Connect with campus groups
  • $50 gift card incentives (5 names drawn weekly for 20 total winners) We collect name, email address and phone for the drawing only, not the survey.

How can you help?

  • Encourage students to check their email and complete the survey. It takes about 10 minutes to complete. They will log in with their school email address and then can enter to receive one of twenty $50 gift cards. Five winners will be drawn each week.
  • Communicate the importance of students sharing their experiences. Surveys are a part improving process and this is an opportunity for student voices to be heard. All responses are anonymous.
  • The data is all our data! Find opportunities for them to take it! This will help all employees improve their services and better guide their support. The more input we get, the better for everyone!
  • Some students are having difficulty accessing the survey because they are using their StarID address. Students must use their first.last@go.mnstate.edu address to access the survey.
