Student submits data to NASA project
Physics and Astronomy student Emily Watson submitted measurements of an exoplanet, a planet around a star far from Earth, to NASA’s TESS mission as part of its ground-based follow-up observers program. Emily took the data using MSUM’s Paul P. Feder Observatory at the MSUM Regional Science Center, operating the observatory remotely over Thanksgiving break. She observed the star dimming briefly as the exoplanet passed in front of its host star.
Emily was assisted by students Mara DeRung and Tanner Weyer and advised by Dr. Matt Craig.
