Asteroid named for former MSUM Physics Professor Walter Worman

The International Astronomical Union announced this past summer that an asteroid has been named for Dr. Walter Worman, Professor Emeritus in the Department in Physics and Astronomy. Dr. Worman was nominated for the honor by former student Dr. Sherry Fieber-Beyer, an Assistant Professor in the Space Studies department at the University of North Dakota.

Walter E. Worman (b. 1944 ) is a professor emeritus of the Minnesota State University (Moorhead, Minnesota) whose asteroid research in the 1990s and early 2000s helped establish asteroid photometry research using small university telescopes.
