COVID-19 has impacted many of our employees and their families in unanticipated ways. Recent federal guidance issued in response to the pandemic allows us to offer a special enrollment opportunity where all benefit-eligible employees can elect medical and/or dental coverage for themselves or their dependents. It also allows employees to elect or change pre-tax contributions to their MDEA and/or DCEA.

Add Medical and/or Dental Coverage

  • Complete this form
  • Add medical and/or dental coverage for yourself and dependents; covered employees cannot drop their coverage or change health plans.
  • Coverage goes into effect the first day of the following month after SEGIP receives the form.
  • Dental coverage will not be open during this fall’s Open Enrollment.

Change Pre-Tax Contributions to MDEA and/or DCEA

  • Complete this form
  • Add, decrease, or increase your MDEA and/or DCEA. On the “Event Date” line on the form, write COVID-19.
  • Elections cannot be reduced to less than the amount that has been contributed and/or used to date, whichever is greater.
  • Contribution changes go into effect the first day of the pay period when the form is received.

Following this special enrollment opportunity, employees must experience a qualifying life event to change their insurance elections or wait until next Open Enrollment.
