Time: 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota helps people through service that inspires hope changes lives and builds community. Across the state and beyond, Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota connects people with opportunities to live and work with dignity, safety and hope. Services span physical health and safety and emotional well-being.

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota’s Caregiver Support and Respite care program is seeking volunteers who have interest in working with older adults or individuals with memory loss. There are two options for volunteering with this program- becoming a community volunteer or becoming an AmeriCorps volunteer. A community volunteer goes through the required background checks, can put in as many or as little hours as they want, and does not get a stipend. However, the community volunteer option does not have a service requirement for time and the volunteer could help for a few months to a few years. The AmeriCorps option has a larger commitment of 40 hours a month, training and background checks completed, monthly meetings, a $200 monthly stipend and if a volunteer reaches 450 hours- they earn a $1,600 educational grant to use toward their schooling, loans or future schooling. The AmeriCorps Year starts September 1-August 30th every year. Volunteers provide respite care for in home family caregivers providing them a break. Volunteers provide companionship and supervision and they do not provide hands-on cares to clients. If students are interested in this opportunity please attend this event or reach out to Laura Rasmussen at 218-220-7517 or laura.rasmussen@lssmn.org

They hire from every major and would like the opportunity to speak to MSUM students about their organization and its opportunities.

Students and faculty please stop by at your leisure to meet and network with this employer and find out what they do as well as discover internship, part-time, summer, volunteer and full-time job opportunities they have available or could in the future.
