Welcome to the #DragonFamily: Kirsten Jensen
Meet MSUM’s Chief Marketing Officer, Kirsten Jensen. She always has a great story to tell and is ready to share the stories of transformed lives on our campus and within our community.
Start date: January 7, 2019
Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: I think it is because there is such a good story to tell here. There are so many great things going on and so many inspiring leaders. I was excited for the opportunity to work with the leadership team and the marketing team. Both groups really drew me to MSUM.
Q: What book are you currently reading?
A: I am reading a couple of books about Gen Z because that is the people we are working with and our students are Gen Z. It is kind of fun too because I get to understand a little more about my kids as well. They are squarely in that Gen Z. The books are Marketing to Gen Z and Gen Z, A Century in the Making.
Q: What energizes you at work?
A: I get really excited when we connect the dots to things. One of the things that is so exciting in this role is there were so much good work that was being done before I started and were connecting more things together and make it feel like things are moving fast but building on. There are a lot of baby steps that are being taken and that is really appreciated here and seeing that is really energizing.
Q: How do you prefer to start your workday?
A: I love that MSUM starts workdays with huddles. That has been one of the best ways for me to get connected. I start with a huddle with our Cabinet Leadership Team which is great because you get a sense of what’s happening on campus. I have another huddle with the marketing team so we know what our priorities are for the day. It is a great way to make sure you’re connected and it was a great way for me to learn about MSUM in bite-sized chunks.
Q: What is one thing that people don’t know about you?
A: I have a philosophy and English degree so it is kind of an unusual pathway to a marketing career but I do think it’s a big part that made me who I am. I love to read, I love to learn and I think my philosophy degree gave me a lot of problem-solving skills that have served me really well in my career and ability to really lay out the options for things.
Welcome to the #DragonFamily, Kirsten! We are happy you are here.
