Dr. Kramar collaborates on bald eagle telemetry, banding project

Dr. David Kramar from Geosciences was recently invited to collaborate on a bald eagle telemetry and banding project in Iowa with researchers from Conservation Science Global and the USFWS out of the Moline, IL office. The project required accessing the eagle nests and capturing the juvenile eagles so they could be outfitted with high-resolution GSM-GPS telemetry units. The purpose of the study was to understand how the eagles are interacting with wind turbines in the state. A total of 17 telemetry units were deployed by two climbing teams. This was a wonderful opportunity to build collaborations and Dr. Kramar looks forward to collaborating further in the future.
