Climate Convening
Saturday, April 28 | 2-5:30 p.m. | Langseth Hall
The greater Fargo-Moorhead community is invited to attend a Climate Convening this Saturday, April 28, from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at MSUM in Langseth Hall. The Sustainable Students Association is co-sponsoring this event which is part of Youth Convening Minnesota (YCM). YCM is an opportunity for students to learn about climate change and gain the leadership skills needed to convene their local community on climate change and inspire solutions.
The convening agenda is designed to feature local people and elevate their voices on climate change. The convening will start with a Resource Fair where local organizations will share their activities. This will be followed by a formal session with opening remarks by Senator Kent Eken followed by a scientific overview by Dr. Alison Wallace (MSUM Biosciences) and a panel or community members who will share their climate stories. Workshops will follow on energy, recycling, and climate change art. Integrating community members in all aspects of the convening helps to create an authentic conversation, from the community to the community, but it was also purposefully designed to encourage social cohesion, collaboration and to support the development of local climate champions. There will be time following the workshops to continue discussions with everyone involved.
Youth Convening Minnesota is part of Climate Generation a Wil Steger Legacy.
