Trash the Ash

Sept. 25-29

Trash the Ash is an annual event put on by the Wellness Educators that promotes a clean campus by raising awareness of cigarette butt litter. Hendrix Wellness Educators will be placing a yellow flag wherever a butt was found and disposed of on campus.

The purpose is to promote the use of our ash trays and garbages on campus. It is estimated that 1.69 billion pounds of butts wind up as toxic trash each year, creating an enormous environmental, health, and economic burden. Contrary to popular belief, cigarette butts are not biodegradable, and are the No. 1 littered item in the world!

If you see one of the Wellness Educators placing flags, don’t be afraid to ask for a free portable ashtray!
