Join us as Dr. David Church presents “A Smell of Vinegar, A Swallow of Gold: Preservational Ethics in the Home Video Market for Vintage Pornographic Cinema for the last colloquium talk of fall 2015 semester.
Dr. Church’s talk concerns the aesthetic strategies taken by several generations of home video companies in re-releasing 1970s-era hardcore porn films on home video, and the ways that recent efforts to promote more “ethical” preservation practices for this oft-denigrated genre are complicated by the representational ethics of the films themselves.
