Dr. Katie Richardson Jens graduated from Citizen’s Police Academy

Dr. Katie Richardson Jens, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice from the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, graduated from the 2015 Moorhead Police Department’s (MPD) Citizen’s Police Academy (CPA) this week. The MPD CPA is a ten-week training program run once each year that exposes a select group of two dozen or so participants to the practices, policies, procedures and techniques utilized by the MPD. Classes include use of force, SWAT tactics, narcotics and gang detection, and prevalence of violent crimes, among many others. Participants receive hands-on experience at the shooting range, practice simulated traffic stops, and have the opportunity to go on a four hour ride-a-long with a local officer. The program will begin accepting applicants for its 2016 academy this spring—contact the Moorhead Police Department for more information.
