MSUM professor Dr. Tim Decker appointed University Writing Director

MSUM professor Dr. Tim Decker has been appointed University Writing Director, effective immediately. Dr. Decker’s outstanding educational background and work accomplishments in the theory and practice of writing pedagogy, his long service on the University Assessment Committee and with other university-wide assessment efforts, as well as his vast experience teaching composition to a wide range of students, including non-traditional, at-risk, and international students, make him a superb choice for this leadership role.

As University Writing Director, Dr. Decker will oversee operations in the University Writing Support Center, including recruitment, training, and compensation of tutors. He will also work with faculty across campus in assisting with the coordination and improvement of writing instruction. He will work closely with the Higher Learning Commission Coordinating Committee in the crucial task of constructing our Assurance Argument for the Reaffirmation site visit in Spring 2017.

Professor Decker received his Ph.D. from the University of Delaware. He came to MSUM in 2005 to join the faculty in the Corrick Center for General Education. He has been a member of the English department since 2011.
