7th Annual Power in Diversity Leadership Conference

The Office of Multicultural Student Services at St. Cloud State University along with partner institutions will host the 7th Annual Power in Diversity Leadership Conference, January 28-31, 2016.

Attendees to the Power in Diversity Leadership Conference are college students from institutions in the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MNSCU) system and colleges from the region.

Students, faculty, staff and professionals are encouraged to develop workshops for college students in the spirit of the conference theme, “Intersectionality In Action” in which workshops may explore the topics of power, privilege, discrimination, and systems of oppression as they relate to the numerous identities an individual or group may claim or relate to.

Target audience: College students of diverse backgrounds
Please visit http://www.stcloudstate.edu/mss/powerindiversity/proposal.asp and submit the RFP form by Sunday, November 8, 2015.Workshops are selected based on their integration of the conference theme, Intersectionality In Action, relevance to the tracts identified below, and how the workshop connects to college students from across the region. Please allow for 60 minutes followed by 15 minutes for questions.

Workshop proposals should be developed to address the following tracts:

Defining Your Future: Internships, the value and benefits of having a mentor, career planning, professional development, choosing a graduate school and program, financing your education, budgeting and building your personal financial portfolio.

Leadership Development: Learning to motivate others, helping others to be successful, how to be a solution manager

Navigating College: Stress and time management, health and wellness/self-care, utilizing resources, healthy relationships

Social Justice and Activism: Addressing topics across the spectrum of diversity including multicultural issues, LGBTQ issues, community building, and political issues.
